Nina Miller's Story
Yes, I know, when I retired you heaved a sigh of relief and said to yourself that I’d never be asking for a donation again.
Guess what.
I am going to participate in the Spring Readathon to benefit our fabulous Tompkins County Public Library. The event takes place on May 7th, and I will be reading some of my favorite poetry. I invite you to sponsor me. You can easily donate online, or send a check. Your tax deductible contribution will help build the collection and support the enormous number of special services the wonderful library staff provides.
I'm taking part in this event because I love the library. Having been a trustee for several years, I have learned about the astonishing array of services and programs the staff provides, with a deep commitment to make the library a place where all feel welcome. I delight in sitting in a comfortable chair (virus permitting!) and reading something that has tickled my interest. I especially love watching the excitement of children as they check out a pile of books
So if you can, join me for a half hour of W.H. Auden, Sharon Olds, and others whose words have touched my heart.

The READATHON is our annual read-out-loud challenge to raise funds for the collection at TCPL!
Help us make our 10th READATHON our best ever!
Every dollar raised helps to buy books and other materials our community so desperately needs. Nearly a million items are used each year—a remarkably high level for a community of our size—and 100% of the funding for annual purchases comes from private support, like that raised by our READATHON participants. Money raised by the Readathon goes toward purchasing books, films, and other materials patrons depend on to remain informed, entertained, and educated.
