A Story Behind LUZ

María avoided eye contact. Every reading lesson made her shrink into herself. She asked to go to the bathroom every time we practiced syllables. But she was bright — her drawings were full of life. With her mother’s permission, I began tutoring her after school. Day after day she showed up, rebuilding her reading skills one sound at a time.

After weeks of targeted intervention, she stood in front of the class and read out loud for the first time. Her classmates clapped. She smiled. She never hid again. By the end of the year, María was reading at Level 20. LUZ was born to ensure no bilingual child is ever left behind again.

Hay un momento que nunca se olvida como maestra: la mirada de un niño cuando empieza a creer que es “el lento.” Lo vi demasiadas veces. Una historia detrás de LUZ
