The Rehart Gesner Fund
The Rehart Gesner Fund was founded by Dr. Michelle Latour and Katy Morris in honor of our grandmothers, Ruth Rehart and Lorraine Gesner—two women who fiercely supported our musical journeys. Inspired by their advocacy, we created this fund to support singers and music educators in the same way: by helping them grow and nurture their talent when they otherwise might not be able to.
After hosting two successful benefit recitals and awarding our scholarships, we quickly realized just how great the need truly is. Many K–12 CCSD general music teachers have little formal vocal training, often leading to chronic vocal fatigue and limited confidence in and out of the classroom. Thanks to generous donors like you, the RG Fund has become a meaningful solution for Las Vegas music educators.
Our Impact So Far
Awarded scholarships to 15 CCSD music teachers
Nearly $40,000 invested in educator development
Over 300 voice lessons provided
Expanded instruction to include three voice teachers, currently supporting multiple CCSD educators
Provided voice-health screenings with a renowned laryngologist
Arranged voice therapy sessions with a certified speech-language pathologist
Where We Are Now
Life has brought a season of transition. Katy has begun nursing school, and Dr. Latour is completing an intensive year-long teaching seminar alongside a full teaching schedule. Because of this, we don’t currently have the capacity to host a Third Annual RG Benefit Recital.
However, we remain deeply committed to our mission. We are continuing to work toward official nonprofit status and plan to return to larger fundraising events in the future.
How You Can Help
We are actively receiving scholarship applications and would love to support even more deserving CCSD music teachers.
Your donation directly funds:
Voice lessons for educators
Vocal health screenings and therapy
Continued expansion of our scholarship program
Every contribution makes a tangible difference in classrooms across our community.
Thank you for believing in music educators, vocal health, and the power of advocacy.
