Some musical historians dated Saint Alberts current Tuba back to 1964. Ironically, that is the same year Saint Albert Catholic first opened it's doors to students. Year after year, the Tuba has performed and has stood the test of time. Sadly, the time for the current Tuba has come to an end.

Ronnie Coleman is the lead tuba player for the Saint Albert Marching Band. He compared the weight of the old tuba to that of lifting a dump truck. " Everyday I enter into class wondering if today will be the day that the tuba will crush me". Coleman also said "I prepared for this all off-season knowing I would be marching with a dump truck of a Tuba. I was ready for the challenge". Coleman went on to say that he will be sad to see the old Tuba go but is looking forward to the future with the new tuba and less chiropractor appointments.

A student in Dr. Beard's 6th Hour Band Class who wished to stay anonymous said " A new Tuba would mean the world to us in 6th hour. All year long I have had to pretend that the music we are making sounds good and honestly 98% of us do sound good. It's that darn tuba who has been bringing us down. I want to be a team player, but that Tuba has to go".

A new Tuba cost $5,500. It weighs about half the current weight of the current Tuba and will provide a better sound with the bell facing up instead of facing out. With your support, we can purchase a new Tuba that our students can actually lift, play on pitch, and once again be the pride of our Saint Albert Catholic Marching Band.
