Our proposed project is the purchase and installation of a City of Green Bay standard park trail bench at Wren’s Pond also known as Barina Creek, the stormwater pond located at the corner of Durham Road and Church Road in the Red Smith neighborhood.

This trail bench will provide a safe, comfortable resting and viewing spot for neighbors, older adults, families with small children, and Red Smith School students who walk past the pond. It will also recognize ongoing neighborhood stewardship of the pond.

The bench will match Parks Department specifications: approximately 70 inches wide, installed on a 5-foot by 8-foot concrete pad, with an inset 3.5-inch by 7.5-inch plaque mounted into the back of the bench.

This is a new initiative. While Wren’s Pond has recently been adopted through the City’s Adopt-A-Pond program, there is currently no seating at this location. The trail bench will make the site more accessible and inviting without creating an ongoing financial burden. After installation, the bench and concrete pad will be maintained as part of the City park system, while our pond adopter will continue to check the bench regularly, report any maintenance needs, and incorporate it into our ongoing volunteer stewardship activities at the pond.
