This heartbreaking gap isn’t due to lack of ambition, it’s lack of support. That’s why ROOTED launched this donation drive: to directly support Move-In Day Mafia, a Black woman-led nonprofit that’s rewriting the story for Black foster youth headed off to HBCUs.
Each year this incredible org mobilizes a "mob" of volunteers who transform empty dorms into beautiful, fully-decorated, cozy spaces—giving students a fresh start with dignity and love. But they don’t stop there. They commit to these students for the next four years, sending monthly care packages filled with everyday essentials, affirmations, and joy.
ROOTED is more than an event, it’s a cultural movement seeding Black joy and wellness, and we believe joy is a right, not a luxury. Especially for the youth who’ve had to grow up too fast, with too little.
This drive is our way of turning that belief into action.
We’re not just collecting money, we’re building a bridge between our community and our young ones who need to know:
They are seen. They are supported. They are not alone.
No amount is too small. Every seed planted here grows love. If you'd like to adopt a scholar, donate items, or volunteer your time with Move-In Day Mafia, please visit their website here.
Thank you for giving. For caring. For being part of the tribe.
Let’s root for our youth like they’ve always deserved. 💐
