RRVA Youth Prevention Services was founded by Tara Ballinger, a mother, community leader, and peer recovery specialist who turned her own lived experiences into a mission to help others. After overcoming addiction and rebuilding her life, Tara created RRVA as a one-woman, community-driven organization that now partners with schools, families, and agencies across Virginia and beyond.

What makes RRVA different is its real, grassroots approach—meeting people where they are with authentic support, lived-experience mentorship, and creative tools like guided journals, Warrior Coping Kits, awareness campaigns, and youth-focused workshops.

RRVA doesn’t just serve youth—it empowers parents and caregivers, too, because we know struggles don’t stop at any age. Whether it’s helping a teenager navigate peer pressure, a parent facing stress, or a family healing from trauma, RRVA stands beside them with resources, prevention strategies, and hope.

Every dollar given strengthens this work and ensures that more families have the support they need to face challenges, build resilience, and rise together.
