It's Karen's 75th Birthday - join our celebration!

Over 15 years ago, Dr. Karen Korematsu founded the Fred T. Korematsu Institute to both honor her father, Fred, and carry on the legacy of his lifelong fight for the civil rights of all Americans, and his message of speaking up against injustice.

Last year, we celebrated 15 years of the Fred T. Korematsu Institute's work to promote civic participation and education on democracy and Constitutional rights. Our work includes two versions of the current national traveling exhibit "Am I An American or Am I Not?” Since December 2010, we have distributed over 15,000 educational toolkits to teachers in all 50 states and 12 countries worldwide to share the story of the WWII Japanese American Incarceration and its impact on civil liberties, the Constitution, and what it means to be an American. We develop, update, and distribute these resources free of charge to teachers through the generosity of our supporters.

None of this would be possible without Karen's unwavering and enduring commitment to this cause.
