Help UNIDOS Bring Community Voices to the Table

UNIDOS Network is working to uplift the voices of rural, unincorporated communities across California’s Central Valley — and we need your help.

We serve the communities of Kettleman City, Lost Hills, Buttonwillow, and Stratford, where residents are often left out of decisions that directly affect their health, environment, and future. That’s why we’re organizing community forums to ensure that local voices lead the way in shaping the projects UNIDOS takes on — from clean air efforts to workforce development, infrastructure, and more.

So far, we’ve hosted four successful forums in Kettleman City and two in Buttonwillow, where residents have come together to voice their needs, ask questions, and shape solutions. On average, 70 people attend each meeting — in communities with total populations of 1,000 or less. That means nearly 1 in 10 residents shows up to help shape their future.

Now, we’re raising funds to bring these forums to the rest of the communities we serve — and we need your support to make that possible.

These communities have faced decades of disinvestment. They lack city governments, public transportation, and access to essential services. Many families live near heavy pollution sources and work long hours with little time or opportunity to advocate for themselves. These forums give them a space to be heard — many for the first time.

Each forum costs $2,000 to host:

  • $500 for food and drinks, so residents feel welcomed and respected

  • $500 for venue space, in areas where there’s no public infrastructure

  • $1,000+ for outreach and staffing, to knock on doors, create and translate materials, set up meeting spaces, and provide trusted, bilingual support

Your donation goes directly to the communities that need it most — not overhead or red tape. It helps us bring people together, listen to their priorities, and build a future rooted in justice and community power.

Donate today and help us bring more voices to the table.
