Who are we?

Pawsibilities Vet Med is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 85-1926869) based in Cary, North Carolina and have been at work since 2020. We are lifting barriers to the veterinary profession in the entire United States. We are a community of professionals fostering a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive veterinary profession by supporting people from communities that have been historically marginalized.

Mission

Our mission is to diversify all roles within the veterinary profession by providing mentorship, professional development, and resources to all intersecting identities including but not limited to:

ability,
ethnicity,
gender identity,
non-traditional paths,
race,
sexual orientation,
socioeconomic background,
religion, and
veteran status.

What Sets Us Apart

Despite the critical importance of mentorship, there are few mentoring programs in the veterinary profession that are free of cost, have a long-term focus, and/ or are centered around individuals from any and every community that have been historically marginalized. Pawsibilities Vet Med is the first organization to offer such a virtual community in the veterinary space.

Pawsibilities Vet Med’s virtual community is:

Dedicated to overcoming the socioeconomic and geographical barriers that so often limit access to the veterinary profession.
Designed to be flexible enough to support whatever direction our mentees may choose.
Not central to an organization, giving it a long-term advantage as individuals grow and transition between careers.

Why Are We?

Veterinary medicine impacts us all.
Veterinary medicine is one of the least diverse professions in the United States.
Mentoring in veterinary medicine is not inclusive.
A more inclusive community will lead to better care.
Inclusive mentorship is critical to the advancement of the veterinary profession.
