Raise the Roof

A strong roof means a strong future!

Help us build a stronger future—one shingle at a time. We're raising funds to replace the depot building roof, and we need your support!

Our Depot building is the first building that our visitors begin their self-guided tour in.  The Depot consists of two large exhibit areas.

1. The Laura Ingalls Wilder Exhibit is perfect for the history buff! It features real artifacts from Laura Ingalls Wilder, as well as information on the history of the Ingalls family and other settlers in the area.
2. The Little House on the Prairie TV Series Exhibit is every Little House TV fan's dream. Visitors are greeted by a mural of TV's Main Street in Walnut Grove done by Greg Preslicka, as well as an extensive collection of real Little House on the Prairie TV artifacts, including the original mantle.

Fun Facts About the Depot:
-It was built in 1898.
-It's the Revere Train Depot.  Revere is approximately 5.4 miles east of Walnut Grove.
-It was saved from the junk yard in Lamberton, MN.
-When it was being moved here, it fell off the trailer!

Our Board of Directors moved to give the first $1,000 towards our $16,000 goal and we need your help to raise the rest!

Disclaimer:

Any funds raised that exceed the need for the Raise the Roof project will be allocated to other necessary Museum projects as determined by our Board of Directors.
