We are working to bring an Urgent Care Facility to Ocean Shores. This will be an independent non-profit organization outside of HRH and Sea Mar where the residents and visitors of Ocean Shores can receive care without an appointment.

Urgent Care Description: For an ailment or injury that cannot wait to be seen by your primary care doctor but is not serious enough to have to go into an emergency room.

The City of Ocean Shores has approximately 6,000 full-time residents and is heavily populated by tourists year round. The spring and summer months are the peak season with 15,000 to 30,000 visitors per day. The average age of residents is 57 years old.

Ocean Shores is a peninsula that is 6.6 miles long and 3 miles wide. The west part of the peninsula borders the Pacific Ocean and the east “bay side” borders Grays Harbor. Ocean Shores has 23 miles of fresh waterways, lakes and canals. Source: OSFD

This first phase of fundraising is for:

1. Obtain Business License, Fictitious Business Name, Non-Profit & Charitable Status - each license/filing is around $100.00.

2. Form Board of Directors

3. Obtain Insurances including B&O liability for Board of Directors

4. Start a Trust Account

Once we get the licenses set up and create a "Trust" account the next phase will be applying for grants. While applying for grants we will continue to accept donations for leasing a facility, buying equipment & supplies, and putting funds away for the staff.

Since it may take 6 months or so for insurance companies, Medicare and Medical to start paying claims then we would prefer to have about one year of payroll funds, around $2M, saved up before hiring doctors, nurses and other staff. Click here to view our Pitch Deck.

My story and why I am advocating for an Urgent Care facility in Ocean Shores.

In 2020 my husband and I bought property in Ocean Shores for a piece of paradise to move to when we retired. We knew medical care may be an issue but fell in love with the city anyways. We retired and moved to Ocean Shores in June 2022. I made an appointment with Sea Mar to establish my medical care as I have diabetes. I was shocked when I found out it would take 10 weeks to get in as a "new patient" (October 4th). I called Harbor Regional Health and their new patient wait time was the same - 10 to 11 weeks. In the time being of waiting for my first appointment I got an ear ailment which is rare for me, if anything I usually get bronchiolitis infections. Although I would have preferred to go to an urgent care facility I self treated and am now healed up; just took longer to heal.

Before retiring and moving to Ocean Shores from Bakersfield, CA I had been an Administrator for several businesses over my 40+ working years. One of which was helping a group of doctors establish an urban medical office near Bakersfield (Arvin). So I have some experience in setting up a medical office. I don't plan to work in the Ocean Shores Urgent Care facility but will oversee it with the other Board of Directors. I am loving being retired.

I am a "doer" ... if I see a problem then I want to fix it. Like the Home Depot commercials say "Doers get things done".
