Rayna’s Resistance was created in honor of our daughter who has Smith Lemli Opitz Syndrome or SLOS. It is a rare genetic disease that affects 1 in 60,000 persons. It causes the inability to produce sufficient amounts of cholesterol, which is an essential nutrient for proper growth and development. It causes Intellectual Disability as well as Autism. Half of the children that have SLOS have a dual diagnosis of Autism. In our early years we raised funds for Autism Speaks, but now that we know the root of her disability, we would like to create an Endowment in her name. It will be a “Forever Fund” that will provide support for the SLO Foundation into perpetuity.
