Workshop

Endemic works to increase the vitality of diverse cultures. As Layman Pascal points out, for almost all of human history people who were considered shamans, witches, medicine people, magicians, priests and priestesses, etc. worked for the same thing, especially under conditions of crisis and transformation. They supported meaning making, civic spirit, inner development, avant-garde thinking, multimodal cognition, resilience under cognitive dissonance and inspired mutuality between humans and their surrounding ecologies.

For several thousand years now though, such people have tended to be unrecognized, untrained and socially disregarded under the dominant operating systems of monotheism and modernity. Many have been relegated to tasks that don’t suit them, driven to the fringes of civilization, absorbed into occult countercultural movements, institutionalized and marginalized, or even demonized and murdered during periodic genocidal “witch hunts.” Although some have found success in specialized professions downstream of archetypal shamans (e.g. philosophers, therapists, artists, institutional priests, comedians), their ability to drive forward shared cultural feeling, vitality, and innovation has been restricted in these roles.

In Endemic’s view, the same forces that have led to the persecution of shamans have alienated all of us from the sense of depth, magic, and innovation in partnership with life that we all long for. People with shamanistic tendencies still have a critical role to play in revitalizing cultures.

•⁠ ⁠Diversities of Shamanistic types
•⁠ ⁠Building a movement for Shamanistic appreciation and cultural re-integration
•⁠ ⁠Ways in which people who are far in the shamanistic spectrum can be supported
•⁠ ⁠Some key applications for shamanistic intervention in our communities

This gathering is for anyone who has shamanistic tendencies and wants to more effectively contribute to cultural and material transformation and anyone else who wants to contribute to the larger cultural recognition of the ongoing value of shamanistic activity. After the workshop, we will all gather and enjoy a feast together. People are welcome to bring things, but everything is also provided.

Therapists and healers hold an essential role in society. They help individuals understand “what the world is” in their own terms and integrate the past into the present. However, this task becomes challenging if the present feels unstable or unknown. Once all of a person's parts are integrated, the authentic, generative self is made whole, and the world of possibilities opens up before them. This workshop and dinner is a preview into Endemic’s Collective of Therapeutic Practitioners.

Tickets for both events are available in each event - only purchase one for this event type. If you are staying the night, there will be common space large sleeping pads available & we will offer you a big breakfast and other snacks before the next workshop.

Endemic’s Collective of Shamanistic Practitioners

Endemic is building novel tools for assessing and coordinating shamanic ability and style. From this foundation, we develop programs to support shaman-types to grow their capacity to stimulate cultural renewal and innovation. Additionally, we work to establish partnerships with government and civic organizations for Collective members to make these contributions in various local communities.
