What is Happening in Aceh, Indonesia Today?

Givelight Foundation started out from the love for our children who suffered from the Tsunami that happened in Aceh, Indonesia 20 years ago. Today, our children in Aceh needs our help. An unprecedented flood has struck the area where our very first home were built in Takengon, Aceh.

By the grace of God, our home is intact, and our children have evacuated safely to a different location. But its neighborhood is completely compromised with limited to no access to essentials, especially with it being up in the mountains isolated from the capital city, with the only bridge connecting it to the broader economy having been completely destroyed by the flood.

All gas stations have shut down. Electricity is out and very slowly coming back online. Cost of essential goods have risen exponentially (100-200%) due to limited supply to the region. Basic food like eggs is non-existent. Our home care takers are struggling hard to ensure our kids have enough food supplies and we are working to send food by air from a bigger town.
