Story
Rent for Moms will help over 50 moms pay rent in Boston (MA), Binghamton (NY), Detroit (MI), Fort Lee (NJ), Oklahoma City (OK), Portland (OR), Richmond (VA), Sacramento (CA), Houston, Dallas and Fort Worth (TX) & Washington, DC.
Though white and non-Black folks are often eager to give money around the holidays, this radical campaign moves beyond saviorism and challenges the systemic issues that maintain the need for feel-good campaigns like toys drives and giving trees, all the way back to their sources.
Your donation to Rent for Moms can help a family have a safe and happy holiday season.
When Black moms are supported, Black communities are supported. Black women are the driving force in keeping generations of families and neighborhoods together. When housing is not a stressor, people are able to secure better jobs and build better family and community connections.
“We’re inviting individuals, community groups, and businesses to make a pledge to raise funds for Rent for Moms. Whether it’s $250, $500, $1000 or more. We’ve got toolkits and resources to help you reach that goal. You won’t be doing it alone and you’ll be helping secure housing for over 50 families this holiday season.” @TheDiDiDelgado
Working together with other Black organizers, in 2020 we were able to create and move resources in a big way, raising $37,420. This holiday season, we need you to show up to reach our ambitious goal of raising $100,000 by 25 December 2022!
