Charlotte is a shy but sweet Cheviot-Scottish cross who came to us with her mom, Lila, and her late brother, Shaun. They were from a farm that trained very expensive sheep dogs and needed skittish sheep for the job. Since Lila seemed to have mastitis, Shaun and Charlotte were bottle-fed and destined for auction.
Fortunately, they found their way to Unity Farm Sanctuary. We soon discovered that Lila didn’t have mastitis but a huge tumor, so we took her to Tufts Veterinary Hospital for a double mastectomy. Thanks to a successful fundraiser, Lila received the care she needed, and the tumor was benign. Now, Lila and Charlotte live happily together at the sanctuary.
Here at Unity, our sheep are treated as cherished individuals. Unlike the wool industry, where sheep are often culled when old or ill, your donation will allow Charlotte to enjoy a life full of love and care, free from the harsh practices of the industry.
