In 2022, we welcomed the inaugural class of ten Ripples of Hope Fellows, made up of five young people from South Africa and five from the United States. The Fellowship was inspired by the legacy of Greg Ricks, a dear friend to many.

Each individual brings their own experience and commitment to community service, social justice, and lifelong learning. Together with mentors who shared deep relationships with Dean Ricks, the cohort traveled to South Africa in July.

The immersion in South Africa was just the beginning. Fellows continued to meet all year with individuals whose lives and work are dedicated to others. In July, a similar immersion will take place in the United States for the Founding Fellows who will welcome the Class of 2023.

Fellows will emerge from this experience with a deeper understanding of the complexities of community service work, and skills honed to lead and build productive, purposeful solutions.
