SCAN - Safe kids, stronger Racine

SCAN provides school-based child abuse awareness lessons to children in Racine County, including programs for preschool and kindergarten children, and 2nd, 4th, and 6th grade students. These programs aim to reduce child victimization and the stigma of abuse by teaching children to recognize dangerous and abusive situations, distinguish between safe/unsafe touches, say “no” to unwanted advances, encourage children to tell adults about such episodes, and assure children that such incidents are never the fault of the child.

Over the past several years, SCAN has been slowly losing key funding that once sustained this work. As these resources continue to decrease, we now depend more than ever on community support to keep these essential personal safety lessons available and free for local schools. Your donation directly protects children and keeps this life-changing program operating in Racine County classrooms. 

Here’s what your donation can do:

• $10 – Teaches 1 child how to recognize and report abuse.

• $50 – Educates an entire row of 5 students.

• $125 – Reaches half a classroom with vital safety messages.

• $250 – Empowers a full classroom of 25 students to protect themselves.

• $1,250 – Supports 5 full classrooms of 25 students with SCAN’s trusted programs.
