SCAPA Voice Sings Carnegie Hall

We are thrilled to announce that vocal music middle school students at Lexington’s School for the  Creative and Performing Arts (SCAPA) have the opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall this April.  Distinguished Concerts International New York City (DCINY) has invited the 2024-2025 SCAPA  Bluegrass Middle School Choir, under the direction of Ms. Amanda Wells, to participate in a performance of Music for Young Voices on the DCINY Concert Series in New York City. This performance for middle school voices is planned to take place on Sunday, April 13, 2025 in Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall. As the only invitees from Kentucky, these outstanding musicians will join with other choristers to form the Distinguished Concerts Singers International, a choir of distinction.  Conductor/Composer Greg Gilpin will lead the performance and will serve as the clinician for the residency.

Dr. Jonathan Griffith, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor for DCINY states: “The SCAPA Choirs received this invitation because of the quality and high level of musicianship demonstrated by the singers as well as the exceptional quality of their audition recording. It is quite an honor just to be invited to perform in New York. These wonderful musicians not only represent a high quality of music and education, but they also become ambassadors for the entire community. This is an event of extreme pride for everybody and deserving of the community’s recognition and support.” The singers will spend 5 days and 4 nights in New York City in preparation for their concert.

This is an amazing opportunity for these 6th-8th grade students. We are seeking donations from community partners to help SCAPA Middle School Choir students reach their dreams of singing in Carnegie Hall. We would appreciate members of the community giving financial support to send these singers to New York City.

Thank you for your consideration and support!
