When we found him, he was skin and bones—curled up on the side of the road in an old Scooby Doo shirt, like he was begging for someone to solve the mystery of what went wrong. We named him Scooby Doo and promised him that his story wouldn’t end there.

But Scooby’s journey hasn’t been easy. Despite the care of 3 different vets and over $1,000 in diagnostics, he just kept declining. We finally got the answer: Scooby has PLE (Protein-Losing Enteropathy) — a complex condition where his body leaks away the nutrients, he needs to survive instead of absorbing them.

At his worst this week, Scooby dropped to just barely 20 lbs. But this week, we had a breakthrough. After a trip for IV fluids, vitamins, and a new round of meds, Scooby has kept down every meal for the last 18 hours. No vomiting. No diarrhea. Just tail wags and tiny hopeful eyes.

He's not out of the woods yet — he’s still considered a hospice case — but we are fighting for him with everything we have. His prescription diet from Chewy (13-lb bag + 6 cans) costs $200 every few weeks. Every single bite is keeping him alive.

Monetary donations are not necessary but are always appreciated. Right now, our top priority is making sure Scooby has the prescription food that’s keeping him alive. Once he’s stronger and back to a healthy weight, our vet will explore longer-term dietary options suited to his condition. But for now, this specific food is what Doc believes is best to give him a real fighting chance.
