These young kings have shown strength, growth, and leadership throughout their journey with Blue Heart—and now it’s time to send them off with love, celebration, and community as they reveal their next chapter. Whether it’s a 4-year university, a 2-year program, or straight into the workforce—they are ready. And so are we.

ALL ROADS LEAD TO SIGNING DAY!!

Everything we do at Blue Heart is aimed at equipping young black men with the tools to be successful in Career, College and… LIFE!! We give them hope, belief and the confidence to be themselves!!

Our Signing Day Event is the culmination of all the work we do! From age 13-18, we build leaders who are ready and able to be successful post high school!

What is Signing Day?

Blue Heart Signing Day is the day students who have gone through our program reveal to their family and friends their college and/or career choice.

Every year The Blue Heart Foundation celebrates our seniors as they graduate from high school and choose the direction (4yr, 2yr, or workforce) that will take them into their next life adventure.

Our Core Programs

H.E.A.R.T LEADERSHIP ACADEMY

Consists of College and Career Prep and Leadership Development. After completing our program, students will have confidence and a clear vision of what their options are in order to make the important life and academic decision for the direction of their post- high school lives. Program also include STEM, Culture & Team Building as well as college tours and outdoor activities.

MINDFUL HEART ACADEMY

Our Mindful Heart program is designed to build social-emotional (SE) skills to help our young men manage people, environments, and situations that they may experience in their lives. Skills which include, but are not limited to the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for youth to recognize and control their emotions and behaviors; build confidence, self-love, racial pride, and self-esteem. Increase mindfulness, establish, and maintain positive relationships; make responsible decisions, solve challenging situations; and set and achieve positive goals. Program includes Mentor Connection, Culinary Therapy, and Improv.

But we need your help to keep them there!

The Problem

Many black students in the United States face unique challenges in completing postsecondary programs. Barriers to completion include the high financial cost of higher education and implicit racial discrimination that leads many to drop out.

Black men have the lowest completion rate at 40%. This high dropout rate is partially due to the fact that 65% of African American college students are independent, meaning they must balance pursuing a degree with full-time work and family responsibilities.

The Solution: The Blue Heart Signing Day Scholarship Fund

Because of the high dropout rate for African American youth due to the cost of higher education, our goal is to alleviate the financial pressure for our students and parents by being able to provide education expenses like tuition, books, laptops, college materials etc., at Signing Day.

This is an ongoing fundraiser, funds will be stored in an Endowment fund to be used solely for this purpose.

Our first goal is to raise $25,000.00.

By supporting the Blue Heart Signing Day Scholarship Fund, you will be making a tangible impact ensuring that our young men stay in college and reduce the amount of stress for them and their families, that working to fund their dreams brings.

About Us

Established in 2013 and now in its 10th year of operation, The Blue Heart Foundation was founded by the late Tracy Morris and his wife April Ray, to empower and educate African American young men, 13-18 in San Diego who are under-served and often underestimated. The Blue Heart Academy offers a solid holistic mentoring program through adult and peer mentoring that facilitates positive interactions, education, empowerment, and emotional wellbeing that is a critical component for the success of their lives
