Renaissance Men and the Boston Children's Chorus present a 1-day workshop exploring the Haitian Choral Tradition with Composer and Clinician Sydney Guillaume.

Concert and Discussion: 5:15-6:00


Day Pass, $25: Watch and Learn! Spend as much time as you like at Zumix watching Mr. Guillaume work with the Boston Children's Chorus and Renaissance Men, then stay for the concert and talkback from 5:15-6:00PM.

Concert & Talk Back, $15: Attend a short concert of Sydney Guillaume's choral music, followed by a Q&A with Mr. Guillaume and representatives from RenMen and BCC.

Sydney Guillaume, Composer and Conductor

Originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Sydney Guillaume is currently residing in Portland, Oregon working as a full-time composer, conductor and clinician. His recent activities as conductor include the 2022 Georgia All-State Senior Treble Choir, the 2019 Florida All-State Middle School Treble Chorus, the 34th annual Idaho State University Choral Invitational Festival, the 2018 Maine All-State High School Mixed Chorus, an all-Guillaume concert at the Lincoln Center in NYC, and concerts with the Imbroglio Sextet at Carnegie Hall and at the 2018 ISME World Conference in Azerbaijan. Guillaume also writes film music – he has written original film and documentary scores for the Los Angeles based company Loyola Productions.

Sydney Guillaume’s choral compositions are known to be intricate, challenging and yet highly spirited. They are full of heart and passion and have been performed around the world.

Renaissance Men's mission is advancing and invigorating the art of chamber music for tenor, baritone, and bass voices across genres and generations through world-class performance, education, and commissions; within New England and across the United States. Like the multi-talented individuals of the Renaissance, our programs feature a wide variety of musical styles and instrumentation with a focus on lower voices. Since their inception, Renaissance Men (RenMen) have entertained New England audiences with their diverse musical choices and multi-talented performers. Comprised of Boston and New York’s most active chamber musicians, educators, and music aficionados, RenMen have paved their way into New England’s cultural landscape with ten concert series, performances of U.S. and world premieres by internationally-celebrated composers, and two album releases.

The Boston Children's Chorus (BCC) harnesses the power of music to connect our city's diverse communities, cultivate empathy, and inspire social inquiry. BCC's vibrant, jubilant, and powerful performances have established them as leading young artists in the city of Boston and beyond. Internationally recognized for their innovative programming, passionate artistry, and ability to connect to audiences, Boston Children’s Chorus showcases the talent and passion of the diverse young people of our city.
