Strength In and Out of Court! đź’š

Mental health is a right, not a privilege. Yet, many immigrants facing trauma, and legal uncertainty are left without the support they need.

For immigrants facing a complicated legal system, mental health support isn’t optional, it’s a necessity.

In 2024, new policies were moving at a lightning speed, making asylum harder to obtain, blocking legal opportunities, and leaving thousands without options. At the same time, the new administration continues to create fear, uncertainty, and emotional distress for people just trying to build a stable future.

Our 2024 Annual Report shows the impact of these policies, and how our team responded to meet the moment.

Legal help alone isn’t enough, our clients need full support. Many are right now struggling with food insecurity, housing instability, difficulty accessing healthcare, and mental health challenges. These issues are connected, and without support, the stress of survival and legal uncertainty can feel overwhelming.

That’s why our Behavioral Health Program is at the heart of SJC’s work. Through our services, we help ensure that our clients don’t just get legal protection, but also they get the care they need to rebuild their lives.

Winning a case isn’t the end of the journey. Many of our clients come to us carrying the weight of trauma, persecution, family separation, and the constant fear of deportation. These challenges won't disappear.

Without emotional support, many are left to face these challenges alone, without the tools or guidance to heal and move forward.

That’s why we don’t just fight for legal protection, we fight for healing too.

Our Behavioral Health Program, 1:1s and Pláticas con Propósito offer:

đź’™ 1:1 emotional support for clients
🧠 Trauma informed workshops and community spaces
🏛 Emotional support in immigration hearings
📢 Resources for immigrant families facing uncertainty

Together, we can break the silence and ensure no one faces these challenges alone.

Why SJC?

Social Justice Collaborative is a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the rights of migrants facing the risk of deportation. We work to keep families together and ensure our communities have access to legal representation and justice. Beyond the legal work, we fight for immigrant rights and celebrate the strength and diversity of immigrant communities.

Your donation helps us respond to our community's needs where it’s needed most, inside and outside the courtroom.

If you'd like to support this or a specific program, feel free to email Mariela Granados, SJC's Community Partnerships and Fundraising Assistant, at [email protected].
