Sustainable Nutrition And Community Connection
SNACC (Sustainable Nutrition And Community Connection), is an after-school cooking initiative providing nutritional education programming for youth living in high-need neighborhoods.
This program helps youth who are living in food-insecure environments develop skills to make healthful choices, form relationships with positive role models, increase self-efficacy, and have secure outlets in a productive space.
SNACC in Action
In January we launched our program at a Title 1 School on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
We will be hosting a special guest chef at every SNACC session to teach the students how to prepare a healthy meal and to create opportunities for students to learn the personal stories of our guest chefs. At every session, the students will prepare a meal for themselves to enjoy during the program, and the students will take additional portions of food with them as they leave the program to share with their family.
Your donation will enable us to purchase the cooking equipment like pots, pans, aprons, serving plates, etc. as well as to buy the products for each session. With your support, we will be able to successfully launch the SNACC program that will leave a lasting impact on some of our city's most vulnerable youth!
SNACC by Faces In Between
SNACC is an extension of Faces in Between, which is a 501(c)(3) community-driven, community outreach organization based out of New York City.
The long-term goal of Faces in Between is to provide tangible programs and services to break the cycle of homelessness with a focus on youth and families by promoting healthy lifestyles, strengthening community connections, and developing resources like the SNACC program, for children to explore their passions and aspirations.
