Science on Tap-Flathead is an informal community gathering to discuss science around the lake, region, world… and sometimes beyond. We invite local scientists and researchers in our community to discuss and present their work and results in ways that are easy to understand and light on data and graphs.

Science on Tap-Flathead is a fun, family-friendly event in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Bring your curiosity and enjoy yourself!

Since 1958, our mission has been to protect clean water, healthy ecosystems, and a lasting quality of life in the Flathead watershed.

The Flathead Lakers’ approach is to encourage land and water stewardship, broaden the constituency for responsible and thoughtful land use planning and resource management, and build partnerships to more effectively address conservation priorities so that our communities can absorb growth and provide economic opportunities while maintaining our special natural heritage and quality of life for future generations.

About the Flathead Lake Biological Station

The Flathead Lake Biological Station (FLBS) is a Center of Excellence and administrative unit within the University of Montana system. We are an ecological research and education center located on Flathead Lake in the Rocky Mountains near Glacier National Park. For over 100 years, we have conducted college courses, graduate programs, and research focused on the Crown of the Continent ecosystem.

Students and researchers from around the world continue to come to FLBS to learn about ecology and limnology from experts in the field. We conduct year-round novel research to help people live in a healthy, sustainable environment and help policy-makers make informed decisions.

Our activities help Flathead Lake remain the jewel of Northwest Montana now and for future generations.
