Chardi Kala: Sikh Student Association
Welcome to the vibrant and inclusive Sikh Student Association at OCC! Our association is a tapestry of culture, spirituality, and camaraderie. We're dedicated to fostering a warm and welcoming community for Sikh students and anyone interested in our culture and traditions.
Our Purpose:
- Cultural Celebration: We delight in highlighting the vibrant tapestry of Sikh culture through a diverse array of events, such as Vaisakhi, Bandi Chor Divas, Gurpurab celebrations, and cultural nights that provide a glimpse into Punjab's enchanting heritage.
- Promoting Awareness and Education: We are devoted to nurturing unity through knowledge. Our association is dedicated to enlightening our members and the entire campus community about Sikhism, its profound history, core values, and the profound significance of the Dastar (turban). The Dastar symbolizes our unwavering commitment to equality and service, rooted in the fundamental Sikh principles of "Vand Chako" (sharing with the community), "Naam Japo" (meditating on the divine), and "Kirat Karo" (earning an honest living).
- Service and Seva: At our core, we are guided by the principles of seva (selfless service) and social responsibility. We're deeply committed to positively impacting our community through various outreach and volunteer initiatives.
Whether you're a Sikh or simply curious about Sikh culture, the Sikh Student Association at OCC invites you to join us in a journey of exploration, celebration, and service. We're creating a more inclusive and informed campus environment for everyone.
