Our Mission
Steven’s Wings: Global Youth Adventures is a nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of underserved youth through the power of travel. We fully fund scholarships that cover passports, flights, and international exchange programs, ensuring that finances never stand in the way of opportunity.

Founded in memory of Steven Wilkes—a Philadelphia nurse and Desert Storm veteran known for his compassion—our mission is to carry forward his belief in human potential. Travel changed my life when I boarded a plane alone at 13, and Steven encouraged me to follow that path. Today, Steven’s Wings exists to create those same life-changing opportunities for the next generation.

Our Partnership with AFS
We proudly partner with AFS Intercultural Programs, one of the world’s oldest and most trusted study abroad organizations. AFS provides structured, safe, and immersive international experiences for high school students, focusing on cultural exchange and leadership development.

While AFS runs the program, Steven’s Wings funds the journey. We cover every expense—AFS program fees, domestic flights, passports, and preparation—so that cost is never a barrier to opportunity.

Why This Matters
In 2025, three Philadelphia students traveled abroad with our support. They returned forever changed:

Our 2026 Goal: $20,000
This year, we’re raising $20,000 to fully fund three more students. This covers:

• International AFS program fees

• Domestic flights and passports

• Cultural preparation and training

• Emergency support while abroad

• A sustainability fund to keep this mission growing
