I was surprised when Elliot told me at 4.5 years old that he wanted to play ice hockey and even more surprised when he continued to want to play as the fall approached. So, I signed him up for the Bruins learn to play program and after 4 Saturdays, he was hooked. When looking to continue with learn to play hockey programs, I heard great things about the Somerville Youth Hockey program. They have a dedicated group of volunteer coaches, an equipment closet to lend out gear, and a lower program cost in order to make this sport more accessible to every kid interested in playing. This has been such a great first hockey season for Elliot and he has gained many skills and made many new friends. We are fundraising to help keep this program affordable to all.
