Sacred Heart Hybrid Academy: Supporting Homeschoolers in the Upstate

Sacred Heart Hybrid Academy is a vibrant Catholic hybrid co-op in upstate South Carolina, designed to enrich the educational journey of homeschoolers. Operating two days a week, we offer guided instruction in state-required subjects for students in grades 3 through 12. As a community of 16 Catholic families and 32 students, all supported by a dedicated team of practicing Catholic teachers, we are proud to blend in-class learning with the flexibility of homeschooling.

In our first year of operations, we’ve seen remarkable growth! Students are thriving under the structure of guided learning, teachers are inspiring engagement during class time, and families have come together to celebrate Catholic feast days with joy and devotion. Thanks to the dedication of our students, staff, and volunteers, we’ve successfully completed our first semester and are tirelessly working to make the second semester—and next year—an even greater success.

Looking Ahead: Enriching the Student Experience

We’re excited about what the future holds for Sacred Heart Hybrid Academy. Here are a few of the plans we’re working on:

• Field Trips: Middle and high school students will enhance their U.S. History studies with hands-on learning at historic South Carolina landmarks, such as Cowpens National Battlefield or Ninety Six National Historic Site. While a bus is beyond our budget, we’re relying on the generosity of our families to carpool.
• Feast Day Celebrations: Our community shines during these special events, thanks to the moms who graciously donate food, prayer cards, rosaries, and their time. These celebrations foster a deeper connection to our faith and a sense of belonging for students and staff.
• Teacher Support: To reduce financial strain on our teachers, we provide curriculum materials, allowing them to create exceptional syllabi and ensuring these resources can be reused for future educators.

With plans to double our enrollment next year, we’re committed to maintaining the same high standards of education and enrichment that have defined our first year.

How You Can Help

Sacred Heart’s tuition covers essential expenses such as staff wages, insurance, and rent. However, donations are critical to funding:

• Field trips and transportation
• Feast day celebrations
• Teacher supplies and curriculum
• Goal to operate in a bigger facility

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and all donations are tax-deductible. Your support will directly impact our students’ educational and spiritual growth, enabling us to provide the best teachers, resources, and activities.
