About the Retreat

This immersive experience will guide you through ancestral storytelling, sacred movement, rituals of renewal, and the creation of your own Pepeha (ancestral identity map). Through Māori traditions, elemental practices, and personal reflection, you will awaken to your roots and step more fully into your purpose.

Each of us carries a story written long before we were born—a thread woven from the experiences, wounds, resilience, and love of those who came before us. Ancestral trauma refers to the emotional, psychological, and spiritual imprints passed down through generations. Grandmother (Whaea) Hato’s Biography

Over the years, Hato has journeyed to many Pacific islands, both to share and to gather Cultural Knowledge with her Pacifica people. These experiences enriched and deepened her gifts of Mātauranga—Cultural Knowledge—and solidified her role as a keeper of ancestral wisdom.

As a Teacher and Cultural Advisor within her Kōhanga (Nest), Hato shared the expertise and wisdom lovingly passed down to her by her elder parents. Being the last child to leave the nest, she was immersed in these teachings from birth, forming a strong foundation for her life's work.

Hato’s focus has always been to instill the beauty, power, and depth of Māori etiquette, language, values, and beliefs in her children. As her children grew, so did her connection to her ancestors and their teachings of the Old Ways. This deepened her commitment to preserving and sharing this knowledge with others.

Today, Hato serves as a Spiritual Counselor and Trainer for a Holistic Māori Social Services organization, specializing in Indigenous family and tribal work. Her Mahi (work) has taken her across the country and the globe, sharing her teachings and cultural wisdom to uplift and empower others.

She often travels alongside her older sister, Taiha-Moetu, to share their collective knowledge and spiritual guidance throughout the United States and internationally. Together, they continue to carry forward the sacred teachings of their people.

Grandmother (Whaea) Taiha-Moetu’s Biography

TAIHA-MOETU has worked and traveled extensively over the years to Europe, America, Egypt, Greece, Thailand, and other countries, sharing knowledge and conducting healing and bodywork workshops.

She is a Naturopath, Reiki Master/Teacher, as well as a Spiritual and Holistic Guidance Counsellor, who specializes in Women’s Empowerment Workshops and helping women to identify their own purposes.

Why did we choose to incarnate in this time?
Taiha-Moetu focuses on empowering each individual and impacts the group through her strong connections and inner wisdom.

Her purpose-work—Mahi—has always been, since childhood, guided by the ones she calls “The Loved Ones,” her Ancestors, and the “Godforce.”
Communicating with The Loved Ones was normal for her, and for the last almost 40 years, it’s been her mahi—her work.
It’s her life and her passion.

“Taiha-Moetu” in Light Language means:
“I stand for my Dreams and in My Power.”

Airline tickets have been secured and travel visas have been approved. At this time, we do not anticipate any difficulties with their arrival or participation. However, should any unforeseen travel restrictions or administrative changes arise that impact our guests’ ability to enter the United States, The Path reserves the right to transition the gathering to a virtual format to honor the sacred teachings and ensure the continuity of our collective experience.

Please note that all ticket sales are final and non-refundable. In the event of a shift to an online experience, your ticket will automatically grant you access to the virtual gathering, along with recordings and any materials prepared by our visiting Elders.
