Over the last year, Exculta Health + Wellness has been helping Veterans and First Responders all over West Central, Missouri get connected with resources, from: Utility and housing assistance, to mental health resources and building our very own Safe Surrender Program.

In this past year, Exculta Health + Wellness has been able to impact the lives of so many; one that lays heavy on our heart, is Matthew. Matthew is a local first responder who had been experiencing mental health struggles for some time. His profession forced him to see the worst sides of people every single day. Seeing the evil that exists in society made his home life become shaky. As a husband and a father of two, his life began to spiral. Matthew began drinking daily, becoming increasingly agitated with his wife and children, and began contemplating ending his own life. His wife filed for divorce, his co-workers saw a change in his behaviors, and his colleague convinced Matthew to remove a gun from his head on one September night.

Matthew's friend called Exculta Health + Wellness after hearing about our mission from a former colleague. That night , Exculta Health + Wellness was able to connect Matthew with a local community crisis center. He was treated confidentially and with respect. After months of follow-up and connection, We are glad to share that Matthew has been reunited with his wife and children. His colleagues have told us that Matthew is a completely different man.
