Dragonboaters have been the beneficiaries of the impactful work of Guardians of Flushing Bay (GoFB). They are the eyes on the ground of the Flushing Waterways and they continue to conduct water testing that measures & tracks the amount of pollution in our water. Flushing Bay and Flushing Creek receive over two billion gallons of raw sewage and polluted stormwater every year. We dragon boaters know how nasty the waters can be especially after a storm. GoFB has successfully advocated for stopping the the passage of the AirTrain, which would have disrupted our Marina and dragonboating activities. GoFB continues to fight for a more environmentally just and greener environment. Please consider supporting GoFB’s work by making a donation to continue to sustain their work for an environmentally just community!
SaturBAY is GoFB’s annual end-of-season celebration and online fundraiser! Celebrate with us in person at a family-friendly cookout and online by donating to our work.
On October 19th from 12-4pm (rain date: Oct. 20), join us for a celebration of our waterway, our ecology, and our communities. There will be music, healthy free food, art workshops, and more! Entrance and activities are FREE WITH REGISTRATION.
SaturBAY will be held in Flushing Meadows Corona Park (FMCP), at the most eastern end of the Malcolm X Promenade along Flushing Bay near the FMCP public kayak/canoe launch. Parking is available on site and the location is within a 20-minute walk of the Flushing Main St and Mets-Willets Point 7 train stations. The event will be hosted on public parkland. All Parks Department rules apply to this event, including the prohibition of alcohol and smoking on site.
Thank you for supporting the Guardians of Flushing Bay
GoFB's board, staff and volunteers want to send a huge THANK YOU to all of folks who came out on Saturday, spread the word and/or donated to our cause. We could not do our critical work without your support and we are so grateful for the many ways that our community shows up for us. For folks who joined us on Saturday, I hope you got to deepen your community connections, learn about our work and relax by the Bay on a beautiful fall day. We hope to see at Flushing Waterways again real soon! with gratitude and appreciation,

Hooray for the Bay and get ready to celebrate!
We’re thrilled to celebrate Flushing Bay with you tomorrow! One of the reasons we love SaturBAY is that it connects our community with Flushing Bay, a place that can be difficult to access if you don’t know where to go. So let’s make sure you know where to go! Use this map for help getting to the FMCP public boat launch and/or these directions if walking or biking from Mets-Willets Point and Flushing Main Street.
Reminder: Remember to bring white fabric (t-shirts, bandanas, etc.) for indigo dyeing! We’ll have free tote bags to dye.
What to expect: Everything at SaturBAY is completely free and open to the public. This includes delicious food from Nhà Mình, an indigo dyeing workshop led by Iliria Studio, lawn games, button making, historic waterway chalk painting, a Flushing Bay walking tour, and more! Feel free to bring your picnic blanket and your favorite park activity (A kite! A book! A frisbee!).
See you tomorrow! 🥳
