The Journal of Caribbean Ornithology is the “academic branch” of the BirdsCaribbean tree–we publish the peer-reviewed science that provides the knowledge base for successful conservation work. We’ll soon complete JCO’s 35th volume, with amazing research from teams across the Caribbean, studying the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, the diet of the Grenada Hook-billed Kite, breeding success in tern colonies, an extinct Giant Barn Owl, and much more.
As JCO’s Managing Editor, I am privileged to work for an academic journal that is dedicated to the biodiverse Caribbean and its diverse research community. With the non-profit BirdsCaribbean as our publisher, we emphasize access: trilingual content, support for early-career researchers, and open access–from the latest article to the first volume published in 1988.
JCO’s very modest publication fees (that can be waived) only provide a portion of the cost to produce high-quality publications. You can assist the dedicated JCO team–science editors, copyeditors, proofreaders, designers–with your donation to help our work!
