Save the Rockville Science Center!

The Rockville Science Center (RSC), home to the 2024 National Drone Champions, recently learned that it must vacate its current facility. The loss of this space comes at a critical time: funding and support for the sciences have reached critically low levels across the country.

In 2025, RSC served over 9,000 regional residents, including 1,300 K-12 students in its on-site STEM programs. Also, among its many success stories is "Some Assembly Required," a team of eight local high schoolers who recently took 1st Place in the Advanced Category at the National Finals of the UAS4STEM Drone Competition in Wisconsin.

"We are seeing a tale of two outcomes," says Ulisses Santamaria, President. "Our nation’s science ecosystem has been hurting, yet our Center is producing national champions. To lose our facility now—when our programs continue to excel and our revenue has grown by nearly 100%—would be a devastating blow to the thousands of families who look to us as a haven for the sciences in our region.

The Center is urgently seeking a new facility in the Rockville area to ensure these vital programs continue.
