Meet Rocky Balboa! Named after the iconic fighter, our Rocky is a true warrior. We rescued him from a county shelter. We were aware of some injuries, however, we unaware of the full severity of them. Despite his unbearable pain, Rocky’s spirit shines through – he’s incredibly sweet and full of love.

Upon arrival at Second Chance Pet Adoptions, we rushed Rocky to our partner vet, Care First Oberlin, where Dr. Wages is now taking excellent care of him. Rocky’s injuries are serious: he has a high fever, severe dehydration, is painfully thin, anemic, and battling a massive infection, including what was a maggot infestation. Rocky will be in the hospital for a while as he tries to make a full recovery.

Taking on an animal with such significant medical needs is never easy for a rescue, but we are committed to giving him a second chance at life.
