EMERGENCY: 8 Kittens in Critical Need!

7.31.25 @ 3 PM UPDATE:  It's been one week since we rescued the 8 emergency kittens, and we couldn’t wait to share this update because YOU made it possible.

The seven surviving kittens are gaining weight steadily — a half to a full ounce each day! — and they’re now eating soft "gruel" on their own. They're even starting to play. These little milestones mean everything after such a heartbreaking start.

And there’s one more beautiful development: A tiny stray orphan kitten recently came into our care. Since one of the original eight kittens didn't survive, our team gently introduced the newcomer to the group. The others welcomed her without hesitation, and now, she’s part of their little family (photo below!) 🩵

Thanks to you, we’ve raised over $5,200 toward their care. We set a new goal of $6,000 to cover their ongoing needs — including nourishing food, medication, and their eventual eye and spay/neuter surgeries — and your continued kindness is what makes it all possible.

7.24.25 @ 7 PM UPDATE:  Because of your incredible generosity, we’ve already raised over $3,500. Your compassion truly humbles us. Sadly, the need is greater than we anticipated. We’ve increased our goal to $6,000 to fully cover the rising costs of the kittens' care. That includes medications, surgeries, formula, and additional staff support for the around-the-clock care they’ll need in the weeks ahead.

We always want to be honest with you, so it breaks our hearts to share that, despite every effort, the smallest, sickest kitten didn’t make it. Our hearts are broken, but we are grateful they knew love and comfort in their final moments.

Thank you for helping us fight for every one of these tiny lives. We’ll keep updating you every step of the way.

7.24.25 @ 12 PM: This morning, FRHS took in eight tiny, critically ill kittens from an overwhelmed shelter even though we’re overflowing ourselves. Every kitten is fighting a severe eye infection. Some will lose one eye. Others will lose both. All need round-the-clock bottle feeding, medication, and intensive care.

Their weak cries are breaking our hearts, but we’re doing everything we can to give them a chance. Their care will cost over $3,000, and we need your help now. Please give what you can to help these kittens heal. Every dollar makes a difference.
