Celebrating 25 years, the Southern Maryland Sailing Foundation (SMSF) was founded to bring youth sailing to the community of Southern Maryland.

Sailing Center Chesapeake (SCC) is the operating organization of the SMSF. SMSF was founded in 1999 and is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports youth and community sailing in Southern Maryland. SCC performs the day-to-day operations of teaching, coaching, and racing. SCC offers summer learn-to-sail programs, a summer youth racing program, fall and spring High School racing, and Scout programs.

In order to keep our program costs as low as possible for our youth participants, we are asking for your support. There are a lot of daily operating costs that impact SCC. Your donation goes to cover:

Fuel for the safety rhib boats - we run up to 3 boats at every practice 5 days a week.
Sail & boat repairs - our boats get an average of 15+ hours each week; with 18 boats, that's 270+ boat hours per week! This results in a lot of wear and literal tear on our fleet.
Shared equipment - our sailing program uses a lot of shared resources throughout the year - radios, pfds, pinnies, etc.
Office supplies - everything from paper to white boards, the boring category that everyone takes for granted.

For more fun, we’ve added a competition feature between the schools of SCC. During checkout, select your school or if you can’t choose between them, select ”Friends of SCC”. (Note - donations will be pooled towards all SCC operating costs and not for one specific school).
