ShadeOutDM Holiday 2024

Degenerative Myelopathy (Canine ALS) is a condition affecting over 100 different dog breeds. It starts in the back legs and slowly incapacitates the animal. It is devastating for the pawrent and very challenging for the dog. Shade Out DM was started when founder Tauni started noticing her corgi, "KC" experiencing concerning symptoms. This started a journey of visiting specialists, countless hours of research, thousands of dollars and many sleepless nights that led her to a veterinarian that was familiar with the disease which helped with a diagnosis: Degenerative Myelopathy. KC fought valiantly for four years until crossing the bridge. This is when Shade Out DM was born. Tauni did not want anyone else to go through this journey without experienced guidance. KC's loss will never be in vain as we educate, support, and fight to get breeders to test for risk of the disease before breeding: the only way to prevent DM! 

We serve many needs within #ShadeOutDM (Shade Out DM Foundation)

1. We are a support group for those that find themselves having a pup faced with DM (we also offer Veterinarians support in giving them an avenue for their clients too)

2. We are dedicated to Raising Awareness about this PREVENTABLE disease

3. We have a loaner cart program that loans wheelchairs to pups in need.

4. Join us in our virtual annual "RACE to #ShadeOutDM" to help us spread the word worldwide to speak out for the pups (this disease also physically affects their voice as it progresses to attack their diaphragm)
