14th Annual Shave the Stache for Autism

Join us Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 6:00 PM as Paul Halvatzis, owner of Amorelli Realty, hosts the 14th Annual Shave the Stache for Autism fundraising event.

As the father of a son with autism, Halvatzis understands firsthand the vital role that QSAC (Quality Services for the Autism Community) plays in supporting families throughout New York City and Long Island. Since 1978, QSAC has provided comprehensive educational, residential, habilitation, and support services to more than 2,700 children and adults with autism and their families every day.

The tradition began over a decade ago when Halvatzis's family challenged him to do something unprecedented – shave the mustache he had worn for more than 35 years to raise awareness and funds for QSAC's programs. The concept caught on, with family members, friends, and neighbors joining the cause by shaving their own mustaches and beards in solidarity with Paul's efforts and in support of his son Paulie.

The impact has been remarkable. Over thirteen years, the Annual Shave the Stache event has generated nearly $200,000 through the generous support of community members, friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors who believe in QSAC's mission.

This year's fundraising goal aims to build on this impressive legacy, ensuring that individuals like Paulie throughout our region can continue accessing QSAC's essential programs.

ABOUT QSAC

QSAC is a New York City and Long Island-based nonprofit that supports children and adults with autism, together with their families, in achieving greater independence, realizing their future potential, and contributing to their communities in a meaningful way by offering person-centered services.

QSAC was founded in 1978 by a group of parents confronted with limited-service options for their children with autism. Today, QSAC provides direct services to more than 2,700 children and adults throughout the region.

QSAC pursues its mission through direct services that provide a supportive and individualized setting for children and adults with autism to improve their communication, socialization, academic, and functional skills using applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles. Programs for children include early intervention, preschool, school, after school, and in-home educational and support services. QSAC’s adult programs include Residential Services, both 24 hour supervised group homes and Supportive Apartments, Day Habilitation Services, Vocational Training, Job Placement and in-home services including Community Habilitation and Respite. QSAC’s programs provide supportive and trained staff, high-impact services, and a commitment to quality.
