For 17 years, Storytime Village has worked to inspire a lifelong love of literacy—because access to books, learning, and opportunity changes lives and strengthens communities.

As we celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Shine Awards, this year represents a pivotal moment for our organization. We are shining a bright light on the vision of the Storytime Village Literacy Center— a permanent, community-rooted space designed to expand access to learning, creativity, and opportunity for generations to come.

While the Literacy Center represents what we are building for the future, proceeds from the Shine Girl Summit and Shine Awards Luncheon directly support Storytime Village’s current literacy programming— ensuring that children and families continue to receive books, learning experiences, and access to literacy resources today, even as we prepare for what comes next.

The Shine Awards, held during Women’s History Month and in celebration of International Women’s Day, honor women whose leadership strengthens families and communities. This year’s focus is clear: women are not only leaders—we are builders who invest in both immediate impact and long-term vision.

SHINE AWARDS YOUTH SUMMIT

The Shine Girls Summit is a powerful, half-day leadership and empowerment experience designed to inspire, equip, and uplift girls as they discover their voice, purpose, and potential. As a cornerstone event of the SHINE Awards Weekend, the summit brings together young girls, mentors, and community leaders for a dynamic morning of encouragement, learning, and sisterhood.

Through interactive workshops, engaging conversations, and real-life stories from SHINE Award honorees and community role models, participants will explore themes of confidence, leadership, literacy, service, and self-worth. Girls will be challenged to dream boldly, lead courageously, and shine unapologetically in their schools, families, and communities.

The summit is intentionally designed to create a safe, affirming space where girls are celebrated, their voices are heard, and their futures are nurtured. Each participant will leave feeling empowered, inspired, and equipped with practical tools to walk confidently in who they are and who they are becoming.
