Miranda Ferris Jones and her beautiful music have touched our hearts, and we are sure will touch yours, too! Miranda's music brings with it a rich and unique tapestry of growing up in a bi-racial family on a dirt road in Vermont, before studying Theater Performance at Yale University and Shakespeare at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts. She is a singer, composer, playwright and has been a beloved vocal teacher (Studio M Voice) to many of Montclair's young talents. Miranda's original shows have been staged at Town Hall Theatre in VT and the new Montclair Theater Project and she has performed, with her friend and collaborator, Laura Benanti, in performances at 54 Below and Wolftrap. The pair are currently developing Miranda's original musical, "The Precipice", for a NYC production. Miranda is also an activist and trail blazer, intentional in her work to lift the voices of marginalized people.
Miranda and her husband, Ben Youngerman, have lived in Montclair since 2017 and are parents to Will (K at Nishuane) and Leo. She was one of our first acts to sign on, stating, "MFEE's values of equity and quality education are my values too, and a large reason why I moved to Montclair. Honoring those values through community art and performance? I'm in!"
We are all in for a special treat tonight with a performance by Miranda Ferris Jones!
