The Senior ASL students have a unique opportunity to partake in a Silent Weekend in the beautiful mountain scenery. The weekend will take place March 27-29, 2026 in Big Bear, CA. and expenses will include meals and snacks (except for Friday lunch), housing, supplies and materials, group activities and transportation to/from SOCES. The cost per student is $250, but if you're able to contribute more to help a student in need, we would be most appreciative.

What is Silent Weekend? (First time for our SOCES/ASL program and sponsored by the PTSA!)

An ASL immersion weekend for ASL students - No talking - only signing
Students participate in:
- Voice-off communication
- Community building
- Shared group activities
Supports:
- Language development
- Deaf culture understanding
- Student leadership & responsibility

The SOCES PTSA is the onsite parent group at Sherman Oaks CES. We, the parents, teachers, and students, work together to make our school the best it can be for every student. We work cooperatively with the school and the student body on fund-raising activities. We work hand in hand with the Parent Center to help grow community and coordinate volunteers. We encourage all parents to join us in speaking for every child with one voice. We invite you to join us and be a part of the success of our students.
