We are requesting a small portion of our budget in order to obtain a physical location in which we can launch a small scale pilot program of our vocational training model to assist disabled adults in reaching their independence and career goals. In our pilot program, we would have two full time staff members working with between 8-10 disabled adults to bolster their vocational skills through various enterprises such as creating and marketing soaps, candles and art to landscaping and gardening. These disabled adults, our "collaborators", will pay a reasonable tuition to receive vocational training as well as instruction and guidance on social and life skills from Monday through Friday, with Monday being a half day focused on community outreach. This program will bridge a major gap in disability services in Central Texas by providing an secular, affordable vocational training program that focuses on upward growth.
