We are thrilled to announce our 2nd annual “Soaring into School” Fair, below are the details:

Date: Friday, August 8, 2025

Location: HACES, 820 W. Greenwood Avenue, Waukegan, IL 60087

Time: 10 AM to 1 PM

Each year, Soaring into School provides a minimum of 200 local students with free backpacks filled with essential school supplies. More than just a giveaway, the event strengthens the connection between families and community resources, thanks to the collaborative efforts of HACES' Parent Mentor Program and the Immigrant Family Resource Program (IFRP).

About the Programs:

The Immigrant Family Resource Program (IFRP) connects families with health services and public benefits, promoting healthier, more empowered communities.

The Parent Mentor Program addresses equity gaps in Black and Latino communities by training parents to volunteer in six Waukegan elementary schools: Carman-Buckner, Glen Flora, Glenwood, Lyon Magnet, North, and Whittier Mentors volunteer at least 100 hours a semester, supporting students in the classroom while gaining professional development to build their skills and confidence.

Together, these programs support students’ academic success and empower parents to be active partners in their children's education.
