It’s SparkShop’s 7th Giving Tuesday!! Today, we’re fundraising to cover the costs of our innovative and impactful STEM programs for Chicago kids. Your support allows us to offer our programs to schools across our city at no cost! Since we began, we’ve reached over 7,000 students across the city of Chicago. Our programs are fully philanthropically funded, meaning nothing stands in the way of us offering the highest-quality programs to the students in Chicago who have been historically excluded from the STEM fields.

What has changed since last Giving Tuesday?

We worked with 24 elementary schools, delivering STEM curriculum and kits that provided students with hands-on learning opportunities that foster confidence, collaboration, and STEM identity.
We engaged hundreds of volunteers to pack kits that provided students with all the materials needed to practice engineering in their classrooms
We launched programming for middle and high school students with a 2-part goal: better support our “alumni” after 5th grade and more deeply understand the long-term effects of our work on our community. Check out the video made by our inaugural intern class:

What’s coming next?

We’re working towards a 2025 Strategic Plan that would see us grow to serve 3,000 4th/5th graders annually, support a cohort of high school interns, grow to a full-time staff of 8, and build out a SparkShop HQ to house our growing team!
Your donation to this campaign lets us say yes to additional elementary schools that are eager to work with us, hire teenagers for their first paid internship experiences, build innovative new curriculum for students and teachers, and conduct the research that uncovers and quantifies the magic that makes us teachers’ favorite STEM program!
