Environmental and outdoor learning is critical for our future

Support environmental and outdoor learning by helping our leadership team connect to our mission by accessing the benefits of being outside! The Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education (AEOE) 's board and staff work to advance the impact of environmental and outdoor education across California. For the month of May we are each committing to a personal challenge designed to help us to deepen our connection to AEOE's mission.

Envision a better future with AEOE

When you think of the future, what do you want to see? Environmental educators across our state are teaching in and beyond classrooms to make California – and our world – a better place. AEOE unites these efforts to help change the world.

We envision a future in which:

Every young person lives in a healthy community with access to meaningful learning experiences outdoors.
Environmental education's substantial societal value is recognized and invested in widely by policymakers, funders, education institutions, and the general public through our messaging and advocacy work.

Amp up our messaging and advocacy efforts. From legitimizing the work we do to focusing on educator pay and student access, AEOE aims to work at a systems level so that environmental education is more accessible, equitable, and inclusive.
Build partnerships to boost capacity. We will strengthen and build relationships with individuals, organizations, and agencies with aligned goals.
Become a better resource for all of our state’s environmental educators. We will expand our resources to engage a broad and diverse educator community and support their efforts to provide meaningful and accessible learning opportunities for students.
Increase program offerings. We will offer a range of learning opportunities for environmental education professionals to increase their skills and expand their networks.

$25 covers the professional membership fee for an educator in need of financial assistance
$50 offsets five assisted level professional memberships
$100 covers one statewide conference scholarship
$200 supports a scholarship for our EE Certification Program
$500 covers a professional learning course moderator fee
$1,000 supports ten conference scholarships
$5,000 supports our communications platform, enabling AEOE to share resources, offer courses, and host events for our community
