Key to the Island Events LTD, is hosting Suffolk County Community Day on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Southaven County Park to benefit Blessings in a Backpack, an amazing organization that helps put food in the hands of food insecure Long Island kids.

Currently, Blessings in a Backpack needs our help more than ever before because it is estimated that 1 in 5 children are struggling with food insecurity- which means their families lack consistent access to enough food for an active, healthy life. When the school doors close on Friday afternoon, it is 65 hours that children here in Suffolk County are going without food until they step back into school on Monday morning. Since 2013, Blessings in a Backpack has helped fill the hunger gap for children in the Longwood School District. Currently, the program has grown to distribute weekly food packs to over 500 children at five schools in the Longwood Central School District. We are looking to grow our presence across Long Island; with your support, we can make it possible! Key to the Island Events will be hosting a county-wide festival with music, a car show, bounce houses, a petting zoo, talent show, basket raffle, 50/50’s, and more to help kickstart their efforts to open their reach to benefit more kids across the island! A minimum of 10% of all proceeds will be donated to Blessings in a Backpack. We will also be collecting donated food items, they have particularly requested cans of soup, chili, and tuna fish, but any canned or nonperishable item is accepted.

At the event, we will be selling POP bracelets that the kids will need to enter the main activity attractions: bounce houses, an obstacle course, a rock climbing wall, and so on. Unfortunately, many of the communities that Blessings in a Backpack reaches are impoverished and this cost may be impossible for some families to attend. In our effort to avoid that and reach many, we want to offer free activities as well as the paid activities located throughout areas in the Suffolk County Community Day event. With your sponsorship we can allow those that cannot afford the talent show entrance fee to still enter. With your sponsorship, we can give a family passes and food vouchers to come enjoy the day for free and forget their money trouble for a little while. With your sponsorship, we can give out prizes for the small games, contests, and raffles that we will feature throughout the day for all age ranges. With your help, we can donate more money back to Blessings in a Backpack because for just $200 a year, they can support a child to help avoid the hunger pains they feel from not having food in the home.

Would you consider sponsoring our event or donating an item or items? We are looking for all forms of donations: money, canned or non-perishable food, prizes (big and small- examples: bracelets, small toys, ice cream cones, free haircuts, etc.), gift certificates, and so on. In return for your support, we will publicly thank you on our website, Facebook, Facebook event page, printed and digital event maps, a mailed thank you letter to your company with the fundraising outcome, shoutouts from the DJ’s at the event throughout the day, and any other ways that we can think of to thank you. For any donations over $250 we will also be adding your company name to the back of the Event staff shirts thank you message for a walking billboard.

Children’s Package $15 or under: Sponsor an old-school game or contest. Donate a prize worth $15 or less to be gifted to winners of the free games and contests that the DJs will have ongoing throughout the day. This can be an actual, tangible prize or a gift certificate. Ideas include a bracelet or other small item, a small toy, a $10 gift certificate, and so on. Please make sure that prizes range to include various ages and genders.

Teen Package $40 or under: Sponsor the talent show. Donate a prize worth between $20 and $40 to be gifted to winners of the talent. The talent show will feature local community members performing for local judges in age groups ranging from 2 to adult. This can be an actual, tangible prize or a gift certificate. Ideas include a bracelet or other small item, a gift certificate, and so on. Please make sure that prizes range to include various ages and genders.

Young Adult Package $20 or under: Sponsor a prize for the car show winner. Donate a cash prize of $20 to be pooled and gifted to winners of the car show.

Adult Package $20 or under: Sponsor a prize for the food and/or dessert truck winner. Donate a cash prize of $20 to be pooled and gifted to winners of the food and dessert truck competition.

Parent Package $130: Sponsor a family of (5) to attend Suffolk County Community Day. Your family will be provided with free admission for up to (5) people and (3) free POP bracelets for paid activities. These tickets will be handed out to local radio stations and schools to raffle off with mention of the company they were donated by.

Family Package $250 or more: Sponsor a family of (5) to attend Suffolk County Community Day. Your family will be provided with free admission for up to (5) people, (3) free POP bracelets for paid activities, and a $100 gift certificate to be used at an attending food truck of their choice during the event. These tickets will be handed out to local nonprofits to give to local community members who can use this opportunity. We will make thank you announcements for these sponsors throughout the day as well as print their company name on the back of Event Staff shirts.
