Hey there!
I’m Alan Anderson, a hematologist and the founder of Sickle Forward—an organization dedicated to making sure every infant born with sickle cell disease gets the diagnosis and treatment they need, no matter where they live. This mission isn’t just my profession; it’s my passion.
I’ve seen firsthand how early diagnosis and basic treatment can change lives, and I refuse to accept that where a child is born should determine their chances of survival. That’s why I’m all in—partnering with amazing people and pushing for real solutions.
One of the ways I love to drive change? Big adventures with big purpose. In 2024, I climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro as part of the Timmerman Traverse, helping raise over $1.25 million for sickle cell programs in Africa. That climb solidified something for me: outdoor adventure, community, and a shared mission can be a powerful force for good.
So in 2025, I’m taking it to the next level! I’m co-leading Summits for Sickle Cell 2025 with the incredible Jimi Olaghere—a sickle cell warrior who stood beside me on Kilimanjaro. We’re bringing together a team of passionate climbers, advocates, and changemakers to raise awareness and funds for newborn screening and life-saving treatment.
Every dollar you donate fuels this mission. It means more babies diagnosed, more lives saved, and more hope for families facing sickle cell disease. Join me in making a real impact—whether through a donation, spreading the word, or even joining us on this journey.
Let’s climb higher, together. 💪🏾🏔️ #SummitsForSickleCell
