I am a pioneering sickle cell warrior and the first patient to receive CRISPR gene-editing therapy for sickle cell disease in 2019. Before my transformative treatment, I often avoided exercise and refrained from visiting high-altitude locations like Colorado due to concerns about triggering disease complications. Now symptom-free, I am an enthusiastic public speaker and advocate, eager to inspire others by joining the Summits for Sickle Cell Disease event as the honorary warrior. I look forward to confronting my fears, reaching personal summits during this inaugural event, and sharing my journey with fellow participants from the biotech community.
